Borschemich, a small village near the Garzweiler brown-coal mine, is slowly disappearing. The excavation is gradually swallowing Borschemich and turning it into one giant hole. Roads suddenly end and nature is already taking over. I’m fascinated by what people leave behind in this ghost town; memories, pictures, furniture and even cats. With these 3 small series, I’m hoping to show you the ambiance I felt in the village over the last year. Because, in a half year, everything in these pictures will have vanished.
